The team's inconsistent start to the season is evidenced by New York City's 2023 record of two wins, two draws, and two losses.

The 2021 MLS Cup champions defeated Inter Miami and DC United after taking one point from their first two games, but since then, they have only been able to collect one point out of a potential six.

It is worth pointing out that New York City boasts a 100% record on home soil this season, so they will be hopeful of notching a third successive victory at Yankee Stadium.

Atlanta United has only lost one of its six games this season, winning four and drawing one, keeping it within one point of FC Cincinnati at the top of the Eastern Conference.

The Five Stripes began their season with a run of three victories in their first four games, including a stunning 5-1 victory over the Portland Timbers after a 3-0 victory at Charlotte FC. However, Gonzalo Pineda's team was brought crashing back down to Earth as they were beaten 6-1 by the Columbus Crew in Ohio.
